The following is a transcript of "A Circle at Both Ends".

Script[]

(Episode begins in the hallway between the Cosy Room and the Gym, where Three is with her Buddy Blocks.)

Three: (Humming to herself) "La-la-la-la."

(On her way to the Gym, Three sees Six. He is with one of his Buddy Blocks.)

Three: "Six! Hey, Six!"

Six: "I’m just going in the Gym."

Three: "Great."

(Three and Six head for the Gym.)

Three: "Oh, great, you’ve got one of your Buddy Blocks."

Six: "Yes."

Three: "Cos, you know, your Buddy Blocks can turn into Buddy Sticks."

Six: "They certainly can." (Six’s Buddy Block transforms from a block to a stick.) "One Buddy Stick."

Three: "Well, I’ve taught my Buddy Blocks to do the same thing. Go on."

(One of Three’s Buddy Blocks transforms, however, something is very different.)

Six: "Great." (He looks carefully at Three’s Buddy Stick, then back at his own Buddy Stick) "Not quite the same as mine."

Three: "What?"

Six: "The ends are round."

Three: (Staring with surprise) "Oh." (Trying to sound like she meant it to happen.) "Oh. Oh, yes. That's exactly what I wanted."

(Six isn’t convinced. Three’s Buddy Stick twirls around to show both sides.)

Three: "Round. A circle at both ends. This is…" (Three’s Buddy Stick moves beside her) "a Circle Stick."

Six: "Um... Can your other Buddy Blocks turn into Circle Sticks?"

Three: (Nodding) "Of course. Go for it!"

(The Buddy Blocks start turning into Circle Sticks, but they’re a bit different from Three’s first Circle Stick.)

Six: "They’re not quite the same."

Three: "No, they’re fine." (One of Three’s Circle Sticks continues to grow taller.) "Circle Sticks. Sticks with a circle at both ends."

(The Circle Stick grows until it almost hits the ceiling.)

Six: (staring upwards) "That one’s very tall."

Three: (Frowns a bit, but smiles as her Circle Stick stops growing) "Lovely."

(The Circle Stick wobbles about until it falls down, landing on the last Circle Stick.)

Three/Six: (Leaping out of the way) "Oh!"

(The third Circle Stick rolls off further in the gym. When it stops, it starts to expand in size.)

Six: "And that one’s very fat!"

(It starts rolling toward them.)

Three/Six: "Whoa!"

(They crash into something offscreen, as does Three’s fat Circle Stick)

Three: "Oh!"

(Three then recovers as her Circle Stick is still clattering into something.)

Three: "Maybe… maybe my Circle Sticks aren’t quite ready yet."

(Alarm rings)

Six: "Never mind. We’ll see them later."

Three: "Let’s go."

(Six hops into the gym’s lift while Three uses the gym’s boing. Five’s been on duty and Four was checking over the Brain-Gain machine nearby. Three and Six join Five.)

Five: "Come on, we’ve got a call coming in." (She turns her gaze over to Four.) "Four, come on!"

Four: "I need to check the Brain Gain machine is okay."

Three: "We don’t need it now."

Six: "Come on, Four."

Four: "Well, okay."

(Four joins his friends at the Diamond Screen, just as the agent calls in.)

Agent 44: "Agent 44 here."

Five: "What’s happening?"

Agent 44: "Things are going wrong."

Three: "But not for long!"

Agent 44: "Look at this boy and his chalk."

Four: "Putting it on screen."

(The screen comes down and reveals the boy is using chalk on the blackboard… but the chalk is going haywire)

Three: "He can’t draw at all with that chalk!"

Agent 44: "He needs help."

Six: "And we’re the ones to help him."

Agent 44: "Thank you."

Five: "I’d like to help that boy."

Six: "Okay."

Four: "In that case, Five is going out!"

(Three gives a bit of a frown in disappointment)

Announcer: "Number Five!"

(Five is scanned, her number comes up on the number board and then she hops into her pod, patiently waiting to be launched. Back in the Control Room…)

Six: "Good luck, Five."

(Five is shown on screen in her pod)

Five: "Thank you."

Four: "Ready for launch." (He flicks the screen to change it from Five in her pod to showing the living room.) "And I’m scanning the room… And it’s all clear."

Six: "Let’s do it."

Three/Four/Six: "5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0!"

(Six presses the launch button, and Five goes streaming through the sky in many little teal number 5s. Back in the Control Room, Four is on the scanner.)

Four: (scrolling through the numbers) "Finding a 5… Finding a 5… I’ve done it!"

(Five’s particles start coming back together.)

Five: "Oh…" (she hops down from her landing number.) "Oh. Okay. Time to do some helping out." (She hops off.)

(Alarm rings)

Three: "More problems!"

Agent 63: "Agent 63 here."

Six: "Where’s the problem?"

Agent 63: "It’s in the garden centre."

(Four had gone back to check on the Brain-Gain Machine.)

Four: "Can someone put it on screen while I check this?"

(Six and Three turn their attention to the screen; Three decides she’s going to work the scanners today.)

Three: (hopping to the scanner) "On screen."

(The gardener is carrying a bit of wood, but is staggering all over the place)

Agent 63: "She’s struggling to move the wood." (The gardener bumps into various pots and hanging baskets of flowers.) "She’s supposed to be helping the customers."

(Now the gardener is bumping into various vine frames.)

Four: "She’s making a mess instead!"

Three: (As the gardener bumps into a lot of plastic buckets, and they clatter to the ground.) "That’s a very strange bit of wood."

(Diamond Screen goes off.)

Six: "More problems!"

Agent 81: "There’s a man delivering a rolled-up carpet."

(The screen shows the man in question walking out of a shop.)

Four: (Still checking over the Brain-Gain machine) "I’ve a feeling this is going to go wrong."

(The man starts staggering around with the carpet and lands on a rack outside.)

Man: "Whoa!" (He spins around as he tries to avoid two other people.)

Three: "That carpet is out of control!"

(Five hops over to check out the carpet.)

Five: "Why are all these things going wrong?"

Four: "Is there anything the same about the chalk, the big bits of wood, and the carpet?"

Six: "I don’t know."

Agent 81: "It's the shape. They're all the same shape."

(Six turns around to the Diamond Screen.)

Three: (She presses a button.) "Putting them on screen."

(The chalk, the carpet and the wood appear on the Diamond Screen.)

Agent 81: "Can you see what's the same about them?"

Three: (Getting excited as realisation hits her.) "Oh! Oh! They’ve all got a circle at each end. Like my circle sticks."

Four: "Put them on screen, Three."

Three: "Oh, yes." (She pushes the button and her Circle Sticks appear on the screen.) "They do look different, but they've all got a circle at each end."

Agent 44: "I think shapes with circles at both ends are called cylinders."

Six: "Okay, so we know what all these things going wrong are called - cylinders. But why are things this shape going wrong?"

Five: "I think I know. Listen!"

(Laughing is heard)

Three: "It’s the Shape Japer!"

Six: (He turns back around to Three.) "What do we know about the Japer?"

Three: (She presses a button) "This."

(The Diamond Screen chimes.)

Six: "Looks like you’re right."

Five: (Bouncing off) "I’m after her."

Agent 63: "More trouble. Someone's got something to eat."

(A boy has a container full of jelly beans)

Three: "I think there's going to be…" (the container rattles, spilling jelly beans everywhere) "…a problem."

(The boy is so startled, he puts the container down, now revealing there to be a hole at the bottom of it too.)

Shape Japer: "Cylinder!"

(Five glances over at a nearby café with a cook.)

Five: "There's more trouble here."

(The cook is getting a paper towel roll down from the cupboard but it rattles around in her hands and bounces all over the room and up the stairs. The paper starts to come off the roll as it moves.)

Five: "Oh, dear."

(The paper towel roll is now devoid of any paper at all.)

(Four is shaking his head at the mechanics of the Brain-Gain machine.)

Four: "Just one thing. The Brain Gain isn't working very well today."

Three: "Oh, no!"

Three: "Is that cake a cylinder?"

(The cook picks up the cake, which starts rattling around in her hands)
